alas for future furniture

Bombay Company filed for bankruptcy. It was auctioned off, and the buyer will begin closing all US stores next week.

This is tragic for me, because all of my furniture comes from Bombay Company.

My dresser (stock photo).

My television stand (stock photo).

My dining table and chairs, plus the clock on the wall, plus the side table between the couches (real photo).

My house looks like the Bombay Company catalog. Now where will I buy furniture?

You should totally take pictures of your house and then mark them up like a catalog, just like in "Fight Club".

Also -- I don't endorse this plan because I don't get the appeal of this stuff anyways -- it looks like you could (1) go get stuff during the liquidation, and (2) buy from the continuing Canadian operation of the Bombay Company.

Tragic for you what about the 3000 + jobs. All you can thing about is your self just like the upper managers in the company.

Its not the only job they'll ever have so get over it.

Also unless you rush out and give money to every body that loses their job you need to stfu.

Yes I make a difference in peoples lives. I make them feel bad for things they can do nothing about and yet I also do nothing about it.

A nice dig you have there Niniane. I like it!

Business comes and goes. You never know, it may come back, just like Apple.

I really dig the furniture they have at Therapy in SF and MV. You might not see it displayed in store, but ask for their catalog. Also, check our www.cb2.com which is the hipper version of Crate and Barrel. There are a bunch of furniture stores in the city but I've only bought from the ones I mentioned.

You can get some awesome inspiration from blogs like sanfrancisco.apartmenttherapy.com and desiretoinspire.blogspot.com.

Niniane,

This looks like an excellent excuse to take a Google "recruiting trip" to Italy! There, in the town of Sorrento in the southwest corner of the country, atop the plunging white cliffs juxaposed against the clearest blue waters of the meditteranean, reside some of the most talented woodcraftsmen you will find. Whether you are in the market for a new wooden rowboat, a charming music box, or the most fabulous furniture you could install-it can all be found in lovely Sorrento. I traveled there for the lemon liqueur, but lost my heart to the woodcraft artisens plying their trade as they have done for centuries. Now my own home is filled.(Free shipping to the U.S. too.) A bit more expensive than Bombay, but what the heck, google is up $200 this month and life is short! You will never step foot in Bombay again...

Ooh! I need to stop in to see what's on sale. Unbelievable though! The one in my area is hiring for the holiday season as we speak.

So sad you are killing rain forests of tropical hardwoods for your own selfish self.

Do you wear fur coats also????

I didn't know this. There's a bed there that I've been wanting. The mirror and beaded table in my foyer came from Bombay. Let me go see what I can find online.
