saddest article

This is perhaps the saddest article I've ever read. It won a Pulitzer Prize.

The article mentions an invention that can help prevent this sort of rare tragedy. It is not on shelves due in part to potential liabilities. How about a device that reminds you of the babies location. It could help prevent this sort of tragedy, without promising to do so. Basically, a geo fence that alerts the parent that the child is not where he or she is supposed to be. Perhaps someone here could write that app and send it out into world.

So if it happens in a church, mall or work parking lot then it is not a crime but if it happens while engaged in behavior you deem immoral then it is a crime. Here is one, I am one my way to work where I am about to sign a deal for $20 million in arms to a third world country so now one group can now really slaughter the other. But I am so excited about the commission that I leave my sleeping son in the car and he dies. I guess not in your opinion. No matter what the motivation that caused the distraction, it is not a crime and the lifelong sentence of guilt, shame and sorrow is a penalty far beyond anything that the justice system could administer.

@Anonymous2 - "This was a crime" - I was simply stating that this was a crime in New Zealand - or at least someone was arrested. I was just pointing out an example, and not making a moral statement. Just happened to come across the story around the same time I was reading Niniane's blog post.
