masquerade wedding

I'm going to a masquerade wedding tomorrow.

I asked my brother advice on what to wear. To illustrate my choices, I dug through old photos, which caused me to stumble across a few that I'd forgotten.

A costume shopping trip in summer 2007. Tom amused himself while waiting for me.

Trying not to laugh.

My flapper costume. This was one option I considered as my wedding attire.

...

In the end, I decided on my red dress and Carmen Miranda hat for the masquerade wedding. I hope it will be appropriate!

How will the bride and groom know for sure who they're marrying?

If anyone says your costume is inappropriate, just start rapping.

Start rapping? I don't get it.

Hah! I recognize that courtyard.

Kickin' dress, by the way.

Isn't masquerade more like Victorian/Renaissance type dresses with masks? Mardi Gras style, etc.

Why do you have to be so pretty?

It is Victorian with masks, but I do not own such a costume. Hopefully I will not be out of place!

You look quite happy in those photos, and red appears to be a good color for you!

A bunch of friends have also remarked that masquerade implies a mask. I hope tonight does not turn out like the flapper fiasco! Concerned.

I need closure on this anecdote!
