not the first time someone got fired because of Steve Jobs

At a Mexican taqueria with my brother.

Me: "Did you hear about how Bloomberg accidentally published an obituary for Steve Jobs last week?"

Tom: "No!"

Me: "It was in the news. At a conference the other day, Steve Jobs said, 'The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.'"

Tom: "That's a good one. Oh, I bet that Bloomberg reporter got fired."

Me: "You think so? Yeah, heads probably rolled."

Tom: "Someone ran into his office and said, 'In thirty seconds, prepare to write your own obituary!'"

Actually, Bloomberg doesn't have offices. They all sit in desks. White desks. Row upon row. When you start, you pick an empty desk. You can sit next to a VP or the mail room clerk, one on each side.

Oh and they have no title. None that is public, at least.

He did this same thing to the State House in NYC. They are using the rotunda or something, I can't remember exactly! It's a riot!

I often visit taquerias myself. But until I googled it, I didn't know they were called that.

That is a pretty long Obit they have for him. Mine I am sure will probably be maybe two or three lines.

"Bob died. He was a grouchy person so maybe this is a good thing!" :)

Nah, this happens every so often. Someone like Jobs has a pre-written obit stored in the system so that it can be published quickly when he does eventually die. The obit is checked every time something significant happens --- like a new product announcement.

Someone then just clicked "publish" instead of "save as draft".

Bloomberg press release: while rumours of Mr Jobs' death were exaggerated, rumours of the writer's are not.

Hello Niniane!

Fatal error of Bloomberg. I agree with your brother: "Someone ran into his office and said, 'In thirty seconds, prepare to write your own obituary!'" :)

I´m a mexican computer Science student. Greetings from Xalapa, Veracruz - Mexico.

Can someone explain this to me? Who is the "He" pronoun referring to?

That is a good question Niniane. It appears "j" moved onto a different topic prior to clicking the Publish button for your blog.

Maybe there is another blog entry he was commenting on that is only partially complete and someone is also wondering what he is talking about.

We do know this though. Whoever "He" is, he did something to the State House in NYC that was a riot. Let the imagination kick in and take you away.

J was talking about Mike Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg News and now NYC Major. No offices is something he (Mike) is very keen on, no one in Bloomberg has one but you don't actually get to pick which desk you sit at like he said.

Anyhow, as embarrassing as releasing this story was at least it wasn't an embargoed story so there's unlikely to be any legal repercussions.
