Simpson describes how he would have committed the 1994 slayings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman, "if he were the one responsible."
An image of the cover featured Simpson's face and the title "If I Did It," with "If" highlighted in white and the other letters in red.
or the note Kevin Federline scrawled on his dressing room door. Just two weeks ago, he told a studio talk-show audience about his devotion to Britney, to which all the young women in the audience emitted a collective "Awwww". And now he's written this:
Today I'm a free man
Ladies look out
Fuck a wife
Give me my kids, Bitch!
Looks like News Corp has pulled publication. And the TV programs. Still, I'd bet that The Juice still walks away with the 3.5 mill. Not too shabby - especially considering he still hasn't ponied up the 33.5 mill he owes from the civil "guilty" verdict.
ReplyDeleteYou wanna know what's even more disturbing than that?
ReplyDelete- How many Americans know FAR more celeb gossip issues than can identify where Iraq is on a map or know the names of leaders are of various major countries.
- How celebrity gossip *IS* news in this country (moreso than elsewhere I've lived and visited)... to the point where 50 homeless people dying of frostbite in Chicago isn't even a blip on the 10 o'clock news, but Suri's (possible) cold is given prime-time fawning coverage.

I do acknowledge and appreciate that pop culture knowledge and "useful" / "important" knowledge isn't mutually exclusive. Plenty of my friends know exactly who is dating whom AND can discuss the finer points of Australian compulsory voting pros and cons. But it seems that the overlap in interest/knowledge is sadly not so large.
adam, you make it sound like this problem only exists in the usa. europeans are just as bad.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, The amount of absurd attention consumers give with their dollars to celebrities, irrespective of their moral values, are not nearly as much in Europe as it is in the US.
ReplyDeleteFyi, both stories you posted are fake. The cover has been debunked as a fake, as well as the supposed Federline note scribbled on the toilet wall.
The british are definitely just as bad. "Royalty" and sports figures certainly fall under the celebrity category.
ReplyDeleteI always find it amusing that Europeans have such a smug and arrogant attitude to the USA. If you are going to stereo-type people then be prepared to have it done to you.
The British?? Britain does not consider itself part of Europe.
ReplyDeleteYes Europeans are much more arrogant than americans, what were they thinking invading Iraq like that pushing democracy onto everyone.

What the heck does the Iraq war have to do with this? You definitely fall into the hyprocrite category.
ReplyDeleteThe UK is part of the EU. I guess your idea of europeans are those that would be speaking german if it were not for the british and americans.
